We are perfectly aware of the enormous responsibility involved in the chemical business. Sustainable development and corporate business responsibility are of strategic importance to us. Oversight of the process of sustainable development management rests with the President of the Management Board and with individual Management Board members within their respective areas of responsibility. As the pursuit of sustainable development spans all areas of the Group’s activities, representatives from various departments and levels of the organisation are also involved in the process.

We treat our strategic approach to sustainable development as a reflection of the integrated approach to measures taken in the area of economic efficiency, responsibility towards employees and the environment, as well as community relationships. In 2017, we updated our strategic priorities in the areas of sustainable development and social responsibility.

  • Improving the environmental efficiency and cost efficiency of processes (reduction of energy use, emissions, water consumption)
  • Ensuring safe production, transport and storage
  • Protecting the safety of our employees
  • Development of closed-loop economy

PILLAR 2: People and relations

Our ambition: We enhance our positive impact on the social and economic environment through:

  • Supporting the development of sustainable and precise agriculture and education of farmers
  • Improving customer relations
  • Supporting the social and economic development of towns, cities and regions in our main facility locations
  • Sponsorship, social involvement and community dialogue
  • Growing the intellectual capital of current and future employees, who form our immediate social environment in our main facility locations

PILLAR 3: Good governance

Our ambition: We strive for operational excellence and manage risks through:

  • Corporate governance and compliance
  • Building a uniform corporate culture based on values and ethics
  • Promoting employee engagement and innovation
  • Managing supply chain responsibility

Grupa Azoty Police

Grupa Azoty Police pursues a management policy which guarantees that strategic goals are achieved in reliance on an integrated management system. The system conforms to international standards and is structured around the principles of giving priority to customers, minimising environmental losses and the risk of hazards, as well as continuous improvement. The management policy in place at the company sets out plans and principles for the company’s overall business, providing a framework for setting and reviewing of strategic goals pertaining to quality, environmental protection, workplace safety, and food safety. A policy of sustainable development strategy management will also be implemented by other Grupa Azoty Police Group companies.

Grupa Azoty Puławy

Striving to meet the growing requirements and expectations of its customers and other stakeholders, Grupa Azoty Puławy implemented and obtained certification for its integrated quality, environment and safety management system in 2004. The key document of the system is the ‘Quality, Environmental and Safety Policy’, defining the company’s goals and ways to achieve them. The main objectives relating to the implementation of the integrated quality, environment and safety management system that are set in the policy are to address customer requirements and expectations as regards adjustment to changing market needs by ensuring compliance with legal provisions governing environmental protection, safety of employees and visitors, and to reduce the environmental footprint.

Grupa Azoty S.A.

Safety, product liability and environmental impacts are the areas of special interest for Grupa Azoty S.A. The company seeks to minimise its negative impact on the environment and improve its management systems, promotes an open information policy and dialogue with local communities, and cares for the safety of its personnel and immediate surroundings. The company has an AEO (Authorised Economic Operator) certificate and participates in the SPOT and REACH systems.

Grupa Azoty Kędzierzyn

Grupa Azoty Kędzierzyn is committed to meeting the challenges posed by new developments in its environment by improving its operating methods and integrated management system.

In 1997, the company obtained a quality management system certificate of conformity to PN-EN ISO 9002, and in 2003 it was awarded an integrated management system certificate in the areas of quality and safety (conforming to PN-EN ISO 9001 and PN-N-18001). In 2005, it had its integrated management system Quality*, Health, Safety & Environment* certified for conformity to PN-EN ISO 9001, PN-N-18001 and PN-EN ISO 14001.

The company’s integrated management system is complemented by the Responsible Care framework management system adopted as part of the ‘Odpowiedzialność i Troska’ ® (Responsible Care) programme, which relies on a voluntary commitment of the chemical industry to improve in the areas of environmental protection, health care and process safety.

In 2006, the Laboratory Services Unit (currently operating as the Research and Innovation Department) completed an accreditation process and obtained the Test Laboratory Accreditation Certificate of conformity to PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025.

In 2014, Grupa Azoty Kędzierzyn was certified for compliance with the requirements of the Product Stewardship standard developed by Fertilizers Europe, and obtained the Product Stewardship Certificate.

Since 2016, the company has had a maintenance process management system in place based on Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM) programmes.
