[102-8] [405-1] [102-41] [401-1] [401-2]

As at December 31st 2017, the Group employed a total of 14,434 people, with 67% of them working for the four leading companies, i.e. Grupa Azoty Kędzierzyn, Grupa Azoty Police, Grupa Azoty Puławy, and Grupa Azoty S.A. (a slight increase on 2016, when the Grupa Azoty Group had a 14,173-strong workforce, of whom 67% were employed by the four largest companies). Our employee turnover remains low. 90% of staff at Grupa Azoty Kędzierzyn, Grupa Azoty Police, Grupa Azoty Puławy, and Grupa Azoty S.A. are hired under open-ended employment contracts. Our workforce numbers are continuously growing as the Group has opted not to hire contingency workers any more. Most our employees are men (74% both in 2016 and 2017) and persons aged 30 to 55 (55% of the four leading companies’ total workforce in 2016 and 2017). However, the majority of our laboratory staff and professionals are women. The HR-related projects that we are going to focus on in the coming periods include building a strong and consistent corporate culture across the Group, developing programmes to support employees’ competence and innovation drive, managing age diversity in the workplace, and developing mentoring programmes.

We support employees’ volunteering projects, appreciating their potential for building social capital and enhancing employee motivation and dedication. Volunteering together is a great way to break the daily routine at work and can be a source of tremendous satisfaction and great pride from putting one’s ideas into practice and, first and foremost, from helping others.

The best volunteering ideas are rewarded by Group companies, e.g. in 2017, Grupa Azoty Puławy selected and endorsed ten projects submitted by employees in a dedicated competition, with the key selection criterion being the amount of work contributed by employees.

Volunteers of Grupa Azoty Puławy held a pottery workshop for the parents of children in the care of the ‘Step by Step’ Charity Foundation of Puławy, which is dedicated to providing therapy to children with autism, Asperger syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. *Grupa Azoty Puławy does not carry out periodic performance assessments. Under the bonus policy (bonuses are awarded on a quarterly basis, with the total amount of the bonus fund contingent on the Company’s financial performance), managers are required to award bonuses based on employee performance assessment, taking into account the incentivising effect of a bonus. The assessment results are not recorded (only the amount of the bonus awarded is). In 2017, an agreement was signed to amend the Company Collective Bargaining Agreement. The amended Collective Bargaining Agreement provides for a review of the employee’s career development by the employee’s superior (based on a set of criteria) and for differentiating the amount of base salary paid to employees holding the same positions on the basis of the review. The first such review is to take place in 2018.
